NFRC Useful Tips Part 2: How to Plan in Line With New CDM Regulations

Here we share some useful links and resources to assist you with your understanding of The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) which came into force in April 2015.

The new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) that came into force in April 2015 brought with it some changes on how construction projects were to be planned, managed and designated.

It stated that all projects are required to have a construction plan in place before works starts.

This applies to all building and construction work, including new builds, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair and maintenance.

Of course, not all of these will be large complicated jobs, and those who need to create a simple plan for a small, straightforward project can benefit from CDM’s construction planning app.

On larger projects, it is the principle designer who would look at the safety implications of a construction phase plan, identifying any risks, while the principle contractor would take the lead on the project as a whole and therefore the initial planning.
